AFFILIATE MARKETING

Affiliate marketing is a performance-based digital marketing strategy in which individuals or businesses, known as affiliates, promote products or services of another company and earn a commission for each sale, lead, or action generated through their efforts. It is a mutually beneficial system where companies expand their reach and affiliates earn income by leveraging their audience, content, or marketing skills.

At its core, affiliate marketing involves three main parties: the merchant (or advertiser), the affiliate (or publisher), and the consumer. The merchant is the business that owns the product or service being sold. The affiliate is the person or entity that promotes the product through various channels such as websites, blogs, social media, or email marketing. The consumer is the end user who purchases the product or takes the desired action. In some cases, there is also an affiliate network that acts as an intermediary, managing the relationship between merchants and affiliates and tracking performance.

The process begins when an affiliate joins an affiliate program offered by a company or through a network. Once approved, the affiliate receives a unique tracking link or code. This link is used to promote the company’s products. When a user clicks on the link and completes a specific action—such as making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or downloading an app—the affiliate earns a commission. The tracking system ensures that the affiliate is credited for the referral.
